Wood-Mizer Nigeria open days a huge success

by Etienne Nagel

Wood-Mizer has a well-established footprint in Nigeria’s sawmilling sector due to the hard work of C. Woermann Nigeria, Wood-Mizer’s Authorised Dealer in the country.

The 2012 dealership agreement between Wood-Mizer and C. Woermann has provided for consistent growth over time.

Wood-Mizer’s modern and more efficient sawmilling equipment is making it easy for new and existing sawmillers in the country to start profitable sawmilling businesses or re-equip sawmills that are still using old and inefficient sawmilling technology.

The open days in Ogan and Enugu States gave sawmillers the opportunity to see Wood-Mizer’s equipment in action, talk to representatives from both companies and experience the aftersales service and support that Wood-Mizer’s dealership network in Africa offers.

Sawmillers at the Ogun State Open Day held in Shagamu highlighted the difficulties that they face in their day-to-day business.

Speaking through a representative of the Wood and Marketing Association of the Ogun State, sawmillers said that Wood-Mizer’s equipment allows them to produce high quality sawn timber easily and efficiently, and that can be sold at a very good price.

Old and inefficient machines that are still cutting in Nigeria, eat into the profits of sawmillers, but with Wood-Mizer, this has now changed, the representative said.

Several machines from Wood-Mizer sawmilling and blade maintenance equipment ranges demonstrated how easy it was to produce sawn timber and resharpen Wood-Mizer’s blades.

Old wideband bandsaw blades that are still frequently used in Nigeria and that is difficult to maintain add to the difficulties of managing a sawmilling business in Nigeria.

C.Woermann’s complete range of Wood-Mizer spares and their service technicians can also assistsawmillers with repairs, training, machine maintenance and advice on how to start and run a sawmill well.

The Enugu State Open Day in Enugu City where manufacturing of wooden products is important, demonstrated how Wood-Mizer’s equipment can make it easier to manufacture timber products.

A lot of logs that are harvested in Nigeria are exported in log form. With Wood-Mizer sawmills, sawmillers can instead cut these logs into sawn timber for local manufacturing.

C.Woermann’s service network now extends in a 500 km + radius around Lagos and now includes cities like Enugu and Shagamu, to mention a few.

Sawmillers across Nigeria can rest assured that their new machine and after sales service needs are taken care of when they buy a Wood-Mizer.
